There is a tiny little park in Toronto Harbour called Ireland Park and it is dedicated to the Irish people who fled the famine of 1847. This park symbolizes their arrival in Canada after suffering the famine in Ireland followed by a usually horrific journey across the Atlantic in 'coffin ships'. There is a similar group of seven statues on the Liffey quayside in Dublin symbolizing their departure. I hope to get some pictures of them in May...
